Fwiw... it's actually much better now than it was last summer, before the pvp'ers could unlock stuff with faction. The pvp'ers hate the pve, and felt obliged to let everyone know at every turn.
The level of negativity was often staggering.
Now the board is mostly positive. There's still the poor buggers who've been run & twinked and never really played the game, but there's much less bitching, moaning, and wringing of hands than there used to be.
EDIT; dang, I forgot... I love GW because I'm a virtual tourist. I love seeing beautifully rendered new worlds, and exploring. WoW was too ugly, EQ2 was boring like watching paint dry... GW is great. I just want MORE - more detail, better graphics, more npc's, more areas to explore, etc and so forth.

I Play Becuase:
- I always come up with short-term goals..gotta meetem, Today got R3 =], Cant wait to get into more better groups =] (And mind you..most of is not from IWAY!)
- Never had community problems, infact the opposite, just ignore the idiots and they'll stop barking, always works for me =]
- Play it becuase I like it =]
- No Fee
- Factions..gotta save money for Faction..
What I'm not liking at the moment is:
- People arent buying much, so you have lods of stocks piling up.

I stay for the:
- Dwarven Ale.
- Watching Prince Rurik die over and over again by recompleting the mission.
- The occasional trolling of a Random Arena "Naked Dance" party.
- Opening trade windows with noobies and flashing 100 platinum at them.

Well I was in the same guild for 5 months, and made some really good friends. Thats why I stay. If my friends stopped playing I would be a 'hop in/out when I feel like it' person for GW. Probably would stay with them by finding what game they quit GW for and if that game fits me, start playing it.

I have noticed that my RL friends often do very stupid things in game. Like my friend following into aggro range when I was tanking and she was an Ele. It was a little annoying since I was tanking without being set up for it. Other RL friends like to run off ahead, as if because I have my monk along they won't die.
It is one thing to end up questing with newbies. Everyone was a newb at one point or another so I can't hate on that. I hate ending up with a bunch of n00bs though(no, I don't use that word in game). I mean, when you have gotten to a certain point in the game you should understand a little about the aggro range and pulling. Those people who insist that you follow them, when they have made no effort to learn how to play the game truely do suck.
I can't play all day, so to have my play time wrecked by needless deaths and failed missions is not cool. I love the game, but I have had to use henchmen for more then 1/2 of it. For one reason, if my play time ends in failing to do what I set out to, I'd prefer it to be my own fault.

The biggest reason why I still play Guild Wars (since May) is the skills and how you can use them together with different profession combinations. IMO, it breaks so much RPG clichés when talking about character roles. For example Elementalist (mage) is not always just weak backline caster but can be also a strong frontline damage taker and good fighter.

Guild Wars is the only balanced pvp, coordination based, teamwork, skill related game that has ever been made.
If your one of those people that want to "build up" your character, or get the "godliest" equip you can get ingame, Guild Wars is absolutley, hands-down not the game for you. I personally suggest world of warcraft or ragnarok online for those looking to grind through a game, slowly advancing your character to their max potential.

Yep, I do the same thing and I don't really understand the people who are bored. Uh, go do something else? I play GW a lot, but when I don't feel like playing, I pick up a book, go for a walk, play The Sims 2 or Grand Theft Auto.
Not that I often don't feel like playing GW -- the game is still loads of fun for me and I'm not bored with it at all.

AMEN TO THAT! I probably have 1.5mil worth of stuff piled up that I absolutely can't sell. Mostly because people are mass selling to save up for factions.
Thankfully, I've discovered an alternate way to make money.
Especially when factions comes out... Hoo boy, I'll be raking in millions.
I'd rather not release how to the public though, if too many people do this, it will be so much less effective.

I am a pure PVE player, I don't play PvP at all, but I still find the game to be a lot of fun. Why do I continue to play this game every night with lots of enthusiasm, after having completed just about all quests and missions with 5 characters?
Its not because I am farming to buy FOW armour, I don't want that, and I have all the money and green items that I need. I don't even bother selling any rare items I find to people, I just sell them to merchants since money is not important to me.
What keeps me coming back each night is the fun I am having with a very good friends group. We enjoy helping each other, and doing SF, Tombs UW and FOW together. We play with a lot of humor and everyone just has a good time.
If it weren't for these good friends, and I instead had to play each night with only henchies or with parties of unknown players I would have grown tired of this game a long time ago.

I've been known to scream and cry like a little girl because of this game. I've sworn at it and other players, I've been sworn at, I've had to deal with the most junk I never thought I'd ever have to put up with, and I suck at PvP.
I keep coming back because there is nothing better.

I really like the game. I don't post as much as I used to - and don't read the forums as much as I used to. But that's because I've now seen threads on just about every topic come and go on this forum.
There's going to be a natural tendency for folks posting to be the "squeaky wheel" so to speak. That's fine - folks can air their grievances. The have an issue and want to be heard.
Folks that are happy with the game are going to be less likely to feel the urge to post - they'd rather play.

Played it for 7 months now, 1000+ hours most from falling asleep, the game is fun and all. As said many times the people in the guild, Vent, GVG, HOH, and a bit farming keeps me on the game.

I love the game and play as often as I can. When I can't, I come here for news and discussion. There are times though....errr. It's not the game's fault, it's the player. Last night I was in a PuG in Tombs. There was one jerk who was barking orders, being an ass and pretty much pissing off everyone while he stayed in the back and offered little to no real assistance. Of course, when we get to the end and kill all the bosses, he gets Victo's Bulwark and couldn't stop bragging about it, while I got squat even though I was working my butt off the whole time. I was ready to quit. I got up, took a break and came back a little later. I got into another PuG in Tombs. This was a great group. We played well together and had fun. Everyone was really nice. We got to the end and again, I got skunked. This time though, someone offered me a green since they had gotten two. What a nice thing to do. That's why I keep coming back.

Ditto And I like my characters to look cool while doing it
I've not quite explored everything, but I'm just about ready for Factions now I think.
